5. Items arising from Minutes/ Review of Action Table

5(a) The draft minutes of the AGM were approved for distribution.

5(b) Church Point Plan of Management. The next design group meeting is scheduled for 8 May. It was noted that an extra 20-50 car spaces would be needed along McCarrs Creek Road in order to accommodate the increasing number of off-shore residents.

5(b) Medivac Protocol

Action: M Doherty to write to the NSW Ambulance Service informing them of the existence of the Pink Water Taxi if off-shore access is needed.

5(c) Naming of geographical sites. The recent controversy over the naming of Sinclair Beach was discussed. It was noted that, even if Sinclair Beach was approved as a name, this would not preclude the waterway being named Treharne Cove. There has also been a prior suggestion for the naming of that area so nothing is resolved as yet. The committee noted that the area was an important Aboriginal site.

A suggestion was made that the crescent-shaped beach facing NW on North Lovett Bay (towards the opening of Salvation Creek) be named Half-moon Bay

Action: to be raised for discussion at the AGM

5(d) Maintenance of track on Bona Crescent.

Action: B Anderson and M Adler to review the situation

5(e) Letter to Real Estate Agents. It was suggested that the finished document be included in the POD

Action: M Doherty to work on a draft document for approval at the next meeting

5(f) Organic Food Co-op. Pittwater Council could be approached to put details in the Pittwater Report to see if anyone is interested in running an organic co-op at the mini mart.

Action: K Lambert to meet with the Romeo’s to discuss the proposal.

5(g) WPCA Social Event. It was decided that this would be more along the lines of a Fireshed dinner to be held on Saturday 23 June.

6. New Business

Address by N Stevens. N Stevens thanked the committee for the opportunity to address the meeting. She discussed the Sustainability Forum which had been held recently at Pittwater Council and the ways in which the Corporate Services Division links in with the outcomes from the Forum.

A consultative group would shortly be set up to continue to develop the 25 year strategic vision. Questions were raised as to how Council would ensure that this reference group was representative of all the community ie off-shore and on-shore interests.

Two specific issues of concern raised at the AGM were discussed

(i)                 Off-shore recycling. There was concern within the community that much of the recycling waste was being thrown into the general garbage rather than being recycled.

Action: K Lambert to write to the General Manager to inform him of our concerns and requesting that monitoring of the waste contractors be conducted.

(ii)               Green waste. The possibility of a green waste collection was discussed. It was noted that Pittwater Council had carried out a survey recently to identify the need for green waste collection in the area

Action: M Vaughn to contact Council to get the results of the survey

N Stevens concluded by agreeing to be a point of contact within Pittwater Council for the western foreshores community.
